Spare Time
HELLO 6TH, 7TH, AND 8TH GRADERS! WHEN YOU HAVE SPARE TIME IN CLASS THE FIRST THING THAT YOU NEED TO DO IS CHECK POWER SCHOOL AND SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO RAISE YOUR GRADE IN THIS CLASS. REMEMBER IF A GRADE IS BLUE I HAVE WRITTEN A COMMENT, AND YOU NEED TO CLICK ON IT TO SEE THE COMMENT. IT MAY TELL YOU WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO RAISE THE GRADE, OR IT MAY JUST BE A COMPLIMENT.
I ENCOURAGE YOU TO EXPLORE THE APPLICATIONS WE WORK WITH IN CLASS: IMOVIE, GARAGEBAND, IPHOTO, PHOTOSHOP, WORD, EXCEL, AND POWER POINT. DASHBOARD AND PHOTOBOOTH ARE NOT SPARE TIME ACTIVITIES! YOU CAN ALSO USE SPARE TIME IN COMPUTER CLASS, OR ANY OTHER TIME FOR THAT MATTER, TO EXPLORE THE WEBSITES BELOW. THERE ARE LINKS TO GREAT WEBSITES THAT WILL STIMULATE YOUR MIND!
REMEMBER, ANYTIME YOU ARE ASKED TO ENTER YOUR NAME, DO NOT USE YOUR REAL NAME OR A NAME THAT GIVES ANYTHING PERSONAL ABOUT YOU AWAY. TRY USING YOUR S# .
A FEW REMINDERS:
"SPARE TIME" IS NOT THE SAME THING AS "FREE TIME". FREE TIME WILL COME OCCASIONALLY AND YOU WILL OFTEN BE TOLD IN ADVANCE WHEN YOU WILL HAVE A FREE DAY.

The following sites are great fun for creating comics:
Witty Comics: A great place to create dialogue. Try writing an interview or tell a joke.
Professor Garfield's Comics Lab Created: This is really cool!
Pixton: Create incredible comics. Make sure you sign up for “Pixton for Fun,” not “Pixton for Business,’ watch the “How-to” videos before jumping in (there are a lot of tools), and save often. If you don't you run the risk of spending 30 minutes recreating an elaborate scene, clicking "undo" to remove a tree, and then watching all of your hard work disappear.
